An account is essential to:
at one of the three Archives Nationales sites:
from any computer workstation connected to the internet:
request copies of documents.
make requests for authorisation or special dispensation.
make search requests.
Creating an account is free.
If you are or have been a reader and you know your reader number:
you can create your account by clicking on "already registered with the Archives Nationales".
you will be able to reserve documents or make other requests (copy, authorisation, special dispensation, search) via the internet;
you will be able to order documents at one of the three Archives Nationales websites as soon as you have completed your registration.
If you've never been a reader before, or if you don't remember your reader number:
you can also opt for complete registration;
you will be able to order documents once you have confirmed your registration at the reception of one of the three Archives Nationales sites.
you can opt for quick registration, for which you will only be asked for a login and password;
you will be able to create and save a list of reference codes that you can use for the above operations provided you complete your registration.
In early 2013, the Archives Nationales made most of their finding aids accessible via the online catalogue. This catalogue is regularly updated. An account will allow you to keep the following:
